Matrix is a trading and pricing platform for Nomura’s U.S. Equity Derivatives Sales and Trading.
This is a modular app, written with WPF. Such architecture allowed to quickly add necessary functionality, or change existing one.
Client Maintenance is a brand-new module for Matrix to manage client information, such as contact details, covering broker and their backup, financial and other settings.
The data is spread across 26 fields, and all are required.

We assessed business requirements, and delivered wireframes outlining suggested functionality.

The app has got QuickStatus, an array of status indicators, that signalling what piece of information is missing, without opening client profile. Nothing groundbreaking here, but super convenient.
To fit the fields within reasonably sized grid control, the fields are grouped into the following topics:
- Summary,
- Contracts,
- Commission,
- Coverage,
- Financials, and
- Mapping.
End-user can choose only one topic at a time.

It’s a brand-new type of order ticket that brings new features to the Matrix users.
- To design new order form for the Matrix.
About seven options were sketched before we prepared interactive wireframes to explore new features and demoed it to Business.

Marina Voynova of Nomura was managing the project by connecting tech people with Business, conducting meetings, and gathering feedback on new UI.
Business accepted new design, and sign it off for development. Thank to the wireframes, the approval time was shortened from months to just a couple of weeks.
We’ve had a pre-release demo to Business, and they absolutely… LOVED it. First time in the Matrix history!
Dialog boxes often don’t fit in a single monitor.

Also, too much real estate screen left unused.

Ideally, UI controls to be arranged in the way, so end-users would start populating it evenly from top left corner to the bottom right one.
