The new Prime Portal provides consolidated view of daily and historical margin details for Nomura’s prime brokerage clients.
The new Prime Portal is a single point of entry for the Nomura product suite across asset classes, services and strategies. It provides customizable views tailored to a role-based lifestyle, delivering meaningful content and offering various efficiencies for many client needs.
One of the major challenges—large amount of information with many-to-many relationships that needs to be shown.
Margin Blotter was designed as the new entry point to the portal after a couple of workshops with Business.

For comparison, previous page had two connected tables cluttered with data, often not relevant to certain end-users.

- To identify the data that Business care about, and, possibly, to come up with an “ideal” hierarchy.
- To identify major pain points in UI that Business experiences with current portal.
- To review and optimize the portal navigation.
- COO commutes into office, and wants a morning snapshot.
- Portfolio manager out raising capital, wants to show potential investors his Top Gainers and P&L.
- Risk manager is on golf course, and wants quick view of their sector exposure.
- Financial officer wakes up, and wants to ensure there is cash excess.
- Client Service team leader is out of office, but wants to review client status and Service Reps items for attention.
The data review helped to organize it into primary, immediately available, and secondary, mostly hidden, categories.
The hierarchy was presented as below:

A1.1 Expand/Collapse cards on all levels, toggle.
A1.2 Filter out cards with Action Required flag, toggle.
A1.3 Choose Client/Manager mode, radio buttons.
A1.4 Export, dropdown.
A1.5 Access to Refine collapsible, toggle.
A1.6 Reset to default settings, button.
A1.7 Filter out by covering broker, predictable dropdown. Feature request.
A1.8 Region selector with Reset-to-Global button, radio buttons.
A1.9 Business Line, dropdown.
A1.10 Dominant Margin Method, dropdown.

PrevDay is a collapsible containing values from previous business day. Collapsed by default.
Depending on client type, the screen is rendered with one of the following templates.

This link takes end-user to the next level down, Holdings.
The widget shows the difference between today’s and yesterday’s values, and direction icon.
Clicking on the widget toggles visibility of PrevDay collapsible.

There are four templates for this screen to choose from. Each template contains various data thematically organized for end-user.

Unrealized Gain/Loss data was not available at the time of development, and Business requested to have it as a placeholder. This was added to the wireframes.
End-user picks the template by clicking on dropdown next to the page header.

Security Snapshot is an in-place pop-up that offers a quick pricing and reference information for the chosen security.
To enable the pop-up, end-user clicks on the Symbol link in Securities table.

Margin Detail replaces last two columns with Average Margin and Margin Base/Local.

This template has got new Group By C3.1, and new set of columns C3.2.
Applicable to all client types.
